22 oktober 2020 18:00-20:30

Welcome to join our first international Ekskäret Salon, October 22nd. Together with Chené Swart we will lean into a curious exploration of the world that we often perceive as a given fact and the potential humanity holds.

There are so many things we take for granted, in our own lives as well as in society: the financial market's role in western society; democracy; consumerism; individualism; relativism, just to mention a few. Some call them our Collective Imaginary. We easily accept the world we are born into as something given, something that just is the way it is. But is it so? What might happen if we dare to question our assumptions of the world?

Welcome to an Ekskäret Salon where we will explore the dominant narratives of the world and our potential to re-write them if needed. Our curious question for the salon is: How can we become conscious co-authors of the world?

For the conversation starter we this time welcome the illuminator Chéne Swart, South African based Narrative Therapist and author of the book "Re-Authoring the World". Read more below.

Welcome, just the way you are!

    Sanna, Magnus och Ekskäret Foundation

Ekskäret Salon is a space for curious and explorative conversations, where we make sense of the world together and co-construct more meaningful ways of living into our chosen future. Ekskäret Salon is an invitation to become agents and authors of a more conscious and sustainable world.

    Conversation starter

    Chené Swart

Chené Swart is a Narrative Therapist from South Africa who has been translating these ideas and practices with organisations, communities and individuals from various cultures and contexts. Her work builds on the gifts of narratives, human connectedness, diversity, transformation and magic that inspired the book, Re-authoring the World! For the last 20 years she has been exploring how we can take back the pen and re-author with dignity and beauty our human presence in this world. The work she brings is an offering to change and challenge the way we look so that we can see and do differently in our relatedness with ourselves, one another and the world. She believes that “the way things are” can be challenged, re-authored and transformed and is committed to participate in and contribute to conversations and actions that re-author our world towards the common good, one narrative at a time!

    PRACTICAL INFO & STRUCTURE

The salon takes place at Ekskäret Anywhere, our digital arena. You will receive the Zoom link after registering.

The foundation for the salon is dialogue, so each participant needs their own computer with a camera and preferably headset.

The salon starts with a collective warm-up, to ground ourselves and warm-up for the explorations to come. Then we move into the conversation starter with our guest, intending to offer us perspective and knowledge around the question for the salon. After the interactive conversation starter, we continue with the explorative dialogues in smaller groups, in which we contribute to the collective sensemaking with our own perspectives and experiences. To make sense of the world is a collective endeavour in which all our stories matters.  In the end, we gather once again in the big group and harvest in an open dialogue.
